A response to Craig (AKA RainMan)

Dear Craig,

Here we are again – it’s become quite a common scenario for Spurs. Couple of high-profile signings, one or two decent results followed by delusions of grandeur. You need to come to terms with the fact that you are not a big team and have failed to make any real footballing contribution in years, and being generous, you are at best a top 8 side. You dream of Champions League football but the rest of the footballing world know it will never happen. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. This is the broken record that is the career of Tottenham Hotspurs.

People may actually feel sorry for you, if it wasn’t for the long list of facts that make you one of the most disdain inducing clubs in the English game. People might not have a problem with you, if you didn’t bang on about “being a brilliant side” when in fact, you just make up the numbers along with most of the other clubs in the league. You’re no Chelsea, and you’re certainly no Arsenal. Forever in the shadow of your neighbours.

People might actually think you’re alright, if you weren’t so smug every time you got a half decent result. We all know it’s a matter of time before it falls to pieces and you sack yet another manager, hoping the next can deliver the impossible and put you in that bracket at the top. Perhaps this is the only way you can be remembered, you offer so little else.

The ironic thing is that you’ve all got your arses out over a mistimed challenging, whinging like a set of utter  spunk trumpets, yet it wasn’t so long ago that Paulinho received a straight red card for a challenge that nearly took Suarez’s head off. You really should engage your brain before firing off a rant. Take a bit of time, pick your toys up, and put them back in the pram.

 

 

Do you set out to act like a bitch because you’ll never quite be good enough to be considered a top side?

If this is the case you need to up your work rate because there’s players in my local Sunday league team that can put up a better fight than you did recently against Liverpool, at White Hart Lane.
 

It is unfortunate that you are now without Paulinho for a brief spell. If only you’d have spent £100m+ over the Summer to somehow be in a position to deal with his absence. I suppose it’s for the best, because if you had spent that amount then there’d be no excuse for not making a serious challenge on the top 4. In the meantime, we’ll do our best to not laugh our bollocks off as you make another ham-fisted effort at actually making progress this Season.
